The HIMA F3226 (including its intrinsically safe variant F3226A / F3226A SI EX) is a legacy safety-related Digital Input Module manufactured by HIMA. It is designed for use in H41q and H51q legacy Central Safety Systems. The module interfaces discrete field devices with the safety PLC, processing signals from sensors, switches, and mechanical contacts within critical Emergency Shutdown (ESD) and Fire and Gas (F&G) systems.

What is the difference between F3226 and F3226A?
The standard F3226 is used for general industrial field connections. The F3226A (SI EX) incorporates built-in galvanic isolation barriers making it intrinsically safe, allowing it to connect directly to binary field devices located in explosive/hazardous atmospheres (Zone 0, 1, or 2).
Does this module support hot-swapping?
In classic HIMA H41q/H51q racks, modules can be replaced during operation (hot-swapped) provided the specific slot configuration and dual-channel redundant topology (if applicable) allow it without interrupting system operations.
Are the input channels monitored for internal faults?
Yes. The module features integrated self-test diagnostics that check for internal safety-related errors, running cycling diagnostic routines like walking-zero tests to identify line faults or cross-talk.
