Q: Can the DSM314 control a mix of digital and analog servos simultaneously, or do I have to choose one mode for all axes?
Q: If I'm using only 2 axes in digital mode, can I still use the other two connectors (C and D) for additional I/O or encoder feedback?
A: No, you cannot mix modes simultaneously. The DSM314 must be configured for either Digital Servo Mode (controlling up to 2 axes of GE Fanuc digital servos) or Analog Servo Mode (controlling up to 4 axes of analog-compatible servos). The mode is a global configuration setting for the entire module.
A: No. In Digital Servo Mode, connectors C and D are inactive and cannot be used for any purpose. Their functionality is only available in Analog Servo Mode, where they are dedicated to Servo Axis 3 and Servo Axis 4 control, respectively.
